Rose’s Ramblings

From Springdale, welcome to Thursday’s Cabot News. I can’t believe July is half over already. Wonder if there’s any way to pull the reins and slow down this thing called age? Guess not. Bummer...there’s another wrinkle. Eeeeek. Can’t afford face lifts...no has offered me an extreme makeover... <big grin>

Enough of my blarney...enjoy today’s offerings.

Again, a reminder to you to be careful how you word your a..ds. Filters are picking up sooooo many words and phrases now. If you are a serious marketer, it’s important for you to know these things. I have to edit many of the a~ds I run for co-op customers. Lots of them come in with the ‘f’ word that means you ‘don’t pay anything’ used as many as 5 times in an ~ad~. Filters are even picking up the disguises now, so you must be innovative to get around this. The bottom line is, if your a~ds are filled with triggering words, it prevents newsletters and ezines from reaching the maximum number of readers...which means, in the long run, the advertiser loses...and that’s you. So, readers, be wise...improvise. <smile>

This Week's Healthy Eating Tip -

Planning meals this time of year can sometimes get a little dull. You don't really feel like cooking in the first place. Make some creative dinners that are a little more fun.

Put out all sorts of fixings that would go into a chicken wrap
and let everyone create their own. (recipe follows)

Make a salad bar.

Make a hamburger bar out on the deck by the grill.
Let everyone create their own gourmet burger.

This Week's Healthy Recipe-

Chicken Wrap Fiesta

Flour tortillas - warmed

Shredded chicken

Diced Tomatoes

Diced Onion

Shredded Lettuce

Salsa

Refried Beans

Guacamole

Sliced black olives

Shredded Cheese

Bacon

A great way to use leftover chicken breast!

Place a few tablespoons water in the bottom of

a sauté or fry pan. Cook chicken through, but

do not brown. I season mine with McCormick

Fajita Seasoning.

Place chicken breast on a plate. Using 2 forks,

shred chicken.

Warm tortillas. Place on a plate and cover with

a towel to keep warm. Or use a tortilla holder

if you happen to have one.

Place your selection of items in bowls to let

everyone make their own creation.

Cut up fruits make a great addition to this simple and fun dinner.

You can use prepared salsa, guacamole, and refried beans, or

you can find the recipes in Cooking With a Thin Attitude.

eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $1.99. "Sounds good," my wife said.
"But I don't want the eggs."

"Then I'll have to charge you two dollars and
forty-nine cents because you're ordering a la carte," the waitress warned her.

"You mean I'd have to pay for not taking the eggs?"
My wife asked incredulously. "I'll take the special."

"How do you want your eggs?"

"Raw and in the shell," my wife replied. She took the
two eggs home.
