From Springdale, on the island of Newfoundland and Labrador, welcome to Thursday’s Cabot News. Here we are...the last day in June. This month certainly flew by. As the saying goes, “Time sure flies when you’re having fun”...and that I am...most of the time. <grin> Anyone watch Canadian Idol? We’re so proud that one of our own boys...from a little community a few miles from here, made the top ten last night. Yipeee! We’re rootin’ for ya Rex. Take it all the way home.

Again, a reminder to you to be careful how you word your a..ds. Filters are picking up sooooo many words and phrases now. If you are a serious marketer, it’s important for you to know these things. I have to edit many of the a~ds I run for co-op customers. Lots of them come in with the ‘f’ word that means you ‘don’t pay anything’ used as many as 5 times in an ~ad~. Filters are even picking up the disguises now, so you must be innovative to get around this. The bottom line is, if your a~ds are filled with triggering words, it prevents newsletters and ezines from reaching the maximum number of readers...which means, in the long run, the advertiser loses...and that’s you. So, readers, be wise...improvise. <smile>

This Week's Healthy Eating Tip -

Drop the Pop.
If you're a pop drinker, you're almost guaranteed to lose
weight if you would just replace the pop with something
else. Plus, in the summer you need something that will
quench your thirst and hydrate you. Pop has never been
a good choice for that.
Drink juices, lemonade, flavored waters, ice tea, or have
a smoothie to satisfy both your thirst and your sweet
tooth. If you crave the carbonation, have a flavored
carbonated water. The blackberry one is really good!
Expand your horizons.....
Your skin and your teeth will thank you for it too.
This Week's Healthy Recipe-
Tropical Blender Blast
1 ripe banana quartered
1 –8oz. can crushed pineapple, drained
1 cup 2% milk
½ cup fresh or frozen strawberries, or raspberries
Put everything in
blender. Cover and blend until thick
and smooth.
Serve immediately.

Once there was a little boy who lived in the country. They had to use an outhouse, and the little boy hated it because it was hot in the summer, cold in the winter and stank all the time. The outhouse was sitting on the bank of a creek and the boy determined that one day he would push that outhouse into the creek.
One day after a spring rain, the creek was swollen so the little boy decided today was the day to push the outhouse into the creek. So he got a large stick and started pushing. Finally, the outhouse toppled into the creek and floated away.
That night his dad told him they were going to the woodshed after supper. Knowing that meant a spanking, the little boy asked why. The dad replied, "Someone pushed the outhouse into the creek today. It was you, wasn't it, son?"
The boy answered yes. Then he thought a moment and said, "Dad, I read in school today that George Washington chopped down a cherry tree and didn't get into trouble because he told the truth."
The dad replied, "Well son, George Washington's father wasn't in the cherry tree at the time."
